Veterans Oyster Photocard
Customer eligibility
Anyone in receipt of an ongoing payment under the War Pensions Scheme or the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, including war widows/widowers and eligible dependents is entitled to receive a Veterans Concessionary Travel Scheme (VCTS) Pass, or Veterans Oyster photocard. The Veterans Oyster photocard is ONLY issued upon receipt of application form provided.
Area of validity
London Fare Zones 1–6, plus stations Rickmansworth to Amersham inclusive and stations Carpenders Park to Watford Junction inclusive on participating Train Company services, London Underground, DLR, London Trams and most bus services in the Greater London area. A full map is available here.

Time restrictions
Mondays to Fridays from 09:30 and until 04:30* the following morning. Journeys started before 04:30 may be completed provided that after 04:30 there is no break of journey or transfer to tube, bus or tram services.
Also available between the following stations on participating Train Company services at any time.
- London Fenchurch Street/London Liverpool Street and Upminster
- London Liverpool Street and Stratford
- Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction / Harrow & Wealdstone
- London Euston and Watford Junction (but not valid on London Northwestern Railway or Southern services between Harrow & Wealdstone and Watford Junction)
- London Marylebone and Amersham
- London Kings Cross/Moorgate and Finsbury Park
- Elephant & Castle / London Bridge and West Hampstead Thameslink
- Richmond and Stratford
- South Ruislip and West Ruislip
No time restriction at weekends and on Public Holidays.
Accompanied Passengers
There is no discount entitlement for adults or children accompanying the Veterans Oyster photocard holder. However, up to 4 accompanying children aged under 11 can travel free on Underground, DLR, London Overground and on some National Rail services - please check locally for details.
Replacements
For lost, stolen or 'failed' passes please telephone 0845 331 9872 and quote either your Veterans Oyster photocard number or Application reference number.
Veterans Oyster photocard holders requiring replacements for ‘failed’ cards must be advised to contact the Oyster card helpline on 0343 222 1234.
Travel beyond the area of validity
For travel beyond the concessionary travel area and excess or extension ticket must be pre-purchased. A throughout journey must be on the services of participating Train Operators as shown above.
Issuing conditions of pre-purchased extension tickets
Tickets pre-purchased for use with a Veterans Oyster photocard are issued subject to National Rail Conditions of Travel. They are valid only in Standard class accommodation; if used in First Class, the full First Class fare will be payable as if no ticket were held.
Pre-purchased extension tickets may only be issued and used with a valid Veterans oyster photocard which must be presented at each ticket examination, otherwise Penalty Fares rules apply within designated Penalty Fares areas.
Pre-purchased extension tickets are not transferable and may be used only for travel by the person named on the Veterans Oyster photocard.
Enforcement
Misuse could result in the ticket user, and person to whom the Veterans Oyster photocard has been issued, liable to prosecution.
