Description

Engineering work is taking place on Saturday between Castle Cary and Taunton, closing all lines.

Trains between London Paddington and Plymouth / Penzance will be diverted (via Bristol Temple Meads – not calling). They will depart London Paddington and Reading earlier than normal, extending journey times by approximately 30 minutes. Some trains will call additionally at Swindon.

A limited number of stopping trains between London Paddington and Exeter St Davids (some beyond) which normally call at Newbury and / or Pewsey will not divert but will operate between London Paddington and stations to / from Westbury.

However if no through train is available:

  • Newbury customers travel via Reading and local services,
  • Pewsey customers travel via Swindon and road transport between Swindon and Pewsey (3 buses each way, taking 45 mins),
  • Westbury and Castle Cary customers travel via Bath Spa.

 

On Sunday trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Weymouth will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Frome, and between Castle Cary and Weymouth.

Saturday Replacement buses:

Between Castle Cary and Taunton taking 65 minutes.

Sunday Replacement buses:

Between Castle Cary and Taunton taking 60 minutes.

Monday to Thursday:

Between Frome and Yeovil Pen Mill.

Between Westbury and Castle Cary taking 60 mins, also between Castle Cary and Taunton taking 65 mins.

Friday:

Between Castle Cary and Taunton.
